John is Manager, Markets & Policy at Clearway Energy Group, the nation's fifth largest renewable energy player. At Clearway, John manages the company's regulatory policy engagement at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and in the ISO-NE, NYISO, MISO, and PJM organized markets.
Prior to joining Clearway, he advised at FERC on wholesale electricity market design, transmission tariffs, and wholesale power and transmission ratemaking issues. Previously, John consulted for the UK government on electricity system governance and operations. Before that, he was a Senior Analyst in the Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency practice at Castalia, a cross-disciplinary consulting firm specializing in infrastructure development in international markets. John has also worked in federal regulatory affairs for the electric transmission business of Pepco Holdings, Inc. (now part of Exelon), in addition to managing state policy and regulatory engagement for the US Department of Energy's SunShot Initiative.
John holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford and bachelor's degrees in Economics and Environmental Policy from Indiana University. He lives in Washington, DC.
