Valerie Gaydos is a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives. Elected to serve her third term she is committed to putting her experience from the private sector to work to help grow the state’s economy, improve opportunities for both employers and employees across the Commonwealth, and support innovative technologies to advance better communities for all.
Valerie started her own company in 1994, an information publishing company that sold financial data to subscribers. She went on to invest in other successful startup companies and became a well-known startup business advocate and angel investor.Prior to getting elected she was the first woman president of the Pennsylvania Angel Network and supports early adopters in life, business and in government.
In recognition of her strong support for pro-business legislation, she has earned consecutive “Guardian of Small Business” awards from the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business and was named by the Speaker of the House of Representatives to serve on the Small Business Council in the Department of Community and Economic Development. She serves on the board of directors for Team Pennsylvania Foundation and America250PA Commission. She was also named a chair of the House Life Sciences Caucus, House Cancer Caucus and House Cyber Security Caucus. She is a member of the House Liquor Control Committee serving as Secretary and active in House caucuses on Economic Growth, Emerging Technologies, and Manufacturing.
In her capacity of an entrepreneur and Angel investor she frequently provides testimony to Congress and has been involved with the Inventor's Project, Save the Inventor, Innovation Alliance, Edison Nation and others on U.S. Patent reform.
As a legislator, she pushes for the often challenging goal of more transparency and accountability in government.
In her free time (if it ever occurs), Valerie enjoys sailing on the Chesapeake Bay
