Giovanni Bertolino, Head of 3Sun USA, Enel North America

Giovanni Bertolino serves as Head of 3Sun USA, which intends to build one of the United States’ largest
solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing facilities expected to begin operations in late 2024. A joint
venture with the Enel Group, 3Sun USA will leverage Enel’s expertise and experience from its 3Sun
Gigafactory in Catania, Italy, with the goal of ushering in a new era of made-in-America clean energy.
Bringing nearly two decades of energy market expertise, Giovanni has held numerous positions within
Enel. Most recently, he served as Head of e-Mobility in North America, Enel X’s smart charging
infrastructure business.
He also served as Director of Regulatory Affairs of Enel and Vice Chairperson at the International
Emission Trading Association (IETA), which was established to help create market-based solutions to
control pollution and tackle climate change, and has held additional leadership roles at the European
Federation of Energy Traders (EFET), and EURELECTRIC (Union of the Electricity Industry).
Through his advocacy efforts he successfully pushed for the overhaul of the European Emission Trading
Scheme and the advancement of New Market Mechanisms in the UNFCCC context. An economist by
training, Giovanni holds an MBA from the New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
